Authors note!: Pretend that the meeting before prom at the Hudson-Hummel house never happened.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's the night of prom, and Blaine pulled up to the Hummel-Hudson residence in his black Porsche. He casually walked up to the door. Before he knocked, he fixed his tie making sure it was perfect. He could hear footsteps coming to the door. The front door opened and a tall figure stood in the center. It was Burt, Kurt's father.
"Kurt said he would be down in a second." Burt stood to the side allowing Blaine to enter. Blaine nodded before entering the house. He stood awkwardly in front of the stairs looking up to see if there was any sign of Kurt. Burt walked over to the couch in the other room and sat down to continue to watch the football game. Blaine wanted Burt to like him, so he decided to use this time alone with him to make a good impression.
"Who's playing?" Blaine asked while he walked over to join Burt.
"The Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets." Burt stated still focusing on the game. Blaine nodded with a half smile leaning forward.
"Prepare yourself for perfection!" Kurt yelled from upstairs. Blaine stood up immediately hearing Kurt's voice. Both men walked over to the bottom of the stairs just in time to see Kurt walk down the stairs gracefully. Blaine was star struck. His mouth hung wide opened in amazement. Kurt looked beautiful. He had the courage to wear a kilt to prom. A KILT. Did he WANT to torture him? What made it worse was that the kilt hugged his hips perfectly making it impossible for Blaine to look away.
"You look great" Blaine said walking over to Kurt, hands behind his back holding a mysterious box.
"You don't look so bad yourself, Anderson." Kurt said cheekily with a smirk on his face.
"I have a surprise for you." Blaine pulled the box from behind his back to present to Kurt. He looked at it in amazement.
'Is this what he think it is?' He grabbed the box and opened it slowly. He un-tied the ribbon, and opened the cardboard flaps. It was a pink flower. Kurt looked up with a massive smile on his face. Blaine picked up the flower and attached it to Kurt's collar.
"Now we match." Blaine stated with a half smile, pointing to his very own flower. "Now people will know that you came with me, and that they can't steal you away." He looked down adorably.
"You kids have fun. Kurt, at 12:00 you better be home." The two boys forgot that was still there they turned around arms linked.
"Yeah yeah, I know" Kurt says while walking out the door, dragging Blaine with him.
"Nice to you see you again, Mr. Hummel." Blaine shouted before he was dragged out the door by and eager Kurt. Blaine walked over to his car door and opened it for Kurt to get in.
"What a gentlemen." Kurt said with his hand to his chest acting surprised. After Kurt got into the car, Blaine ran over to his side. Making Kurt laugh in the progress and started the car. He looked over to Kurt.
"Ready?" Blaine looked over to Kurt. He just smiled and turned to Blaine.
"This is my night, nothing can stop me."
Arriving at McKinley, Blaine jumped out of his car to go open Kurt's door.
"Thank-you." Kurt nodded to Blaine getting out of the car.
"No problem." Bowing to Kurt. Making him laugh. 'He is such a dork.' Kurt thought to himself.
Kurt took a deep breath. He linked arms with Blaine and opened the schools gyms doors to reveal the prom. Walking into prom a few people were staring at Kurt, but no one said anything. Kurt and Blaine greeted all the new directions and they left to join the dance floor with the rest of McKinley. Blaine and Kurt were standing together watching everybody dance the night away. Every once in a while Kurt would catch Blaine looking at him with a smile on his face and it would make Kurt blush. They sang along with all the songs New Directions performed, especially Friday. Rachel started to sing a slower song, Kurt looked at Blaine hoping he was going to ask him to dance but he never did. They stayed standing in the same spot watching everybody else dancing and talking about how nice the prom was. It came time for Blaine to Perform, Kurt enjoying his boyfriends amazing voice and Dance skills like always. Occasionally Blaine would point to Kurt dancing by himself, making Kurt blush. But someone yelling from across the hall interrupted Blaine's amazing song. All Kurt could see was Finn and Jesse getting pulled away by Sue. He was worried for his stepbrother, but he just couldn't seem to be able to take his eyes off of Blaine.
"I had a lot of fun tonight, Kurt." Blaine said as he was driving Kurt back to the Hummel-Hudson residence. His eyes were locked on the road.
There was no response.
"Kurt?" he asked again.
No answer.
Blaine took a moment to glance at his boyfriend. He was breathing softly as he slept on the passenger side seat. Blaine smiled. He looks so adorable when he's asleep. They arrived at Kurt's house a couple of minutes later. Blaine parked the car in the driveway, and turned it off. He turned to shake the sleeping boy softly.
"Kurt, wake up. We're at your house." Kurt moaned and shifted away from Blaine.
"Come on. Wakey, wakey." he said, sounding childish as he shook him again. Kurt whined and moaned. He slowly opened his eyes up. He rubbed his eyes to get a better view of the warbler smiling down at him. Blaine got out of the car and walked over to open Kurt's door. Kurt looked up at Blaine. Blaine just smiled and held his hand out to Kurt. Kurt was still a bit tired so he had to take Blaine's hand so he could be able to walk to the front door. They reached the front door of the house and turned to face each other.
"Thank you," Kurt said softly. He was almost drunk with the happiness of dancing with his boyfriend at prom and showing those bullies that they couldn't put him down.
"For what?" Blaine asked, taking Kurt's hands and smiling.
"Making my prom special," Kurt replied, a smile of his own gracing his face in the pale moonlight. He looked down, embarrassed.
"Kurt." Hands still intertwined, Blaine's thumb started to brush the back of Kurt's hand. Kurt looked up to see the funny little smile on Blaine's face as his eyes trail across Kurt's body.
"What?" Kurt asks, attempting to be cute and coy.
"Just…" Blaine sighs. "You're just really beautiful." Kurt flushes, thinking that he'll never get used to hearing that.
"Do you… um. Do you want to come in, for a bit?" He asks. "It's so late, you could even stay the night if you don't want to be driving – or not," Blaine raises his eyebrows with a smirk on his face. "Look, my dad is still up, we'll just ask if it's alright – he won't want you killing yourself trying to get home anyway."
"If it's okay with your dad, it's okay with me. I would love to stay." Kurt leans over and kisses him, keeping it short and sweet because his father is undoubtedly spying on them right now. Blaine takes his hand without prompt as they step inside together.
"Hi, dad!" Kurt says brightly. Burt was in the lounge room, watching the football still.
"Hey, boys. Have a good time?"
"Yep!"
"No trouble?" Kurt and Blaine share a look. There's no way he can avoid telling his dad, but… not tonight. He can't let anything else ruin tonight. He'd already hidden his crown so he didn't have to answer all the questions that went with it.
"Nah, not really. Um, listen, do you think Blaine could stay the night?" Burt raises an eyebrow.
Quiet.
'Well…this is awkward.' Both boys thought to themselves.
"I don't do so well driving in the dark," Blaine explains, shuffling around and looking slightly awkward. Burt huffs, thinking about it for another moment. Burt turned toward Blaine with a serious expression.
"Well, you're not sleeping in the same bed as Kurt. So forget that idea. I'll just set up the couch in here for you." Kurt grinned, letting go of Blaine long enough to clap his hands. Blaine is more reserved.
"Thanks, Mr. Hummel."
"Yeah, yeah. Just no funny business." he said sternly, "I have my eyes on you, Anderson." Blaine let out a relieved sigh. Burt disappeared upstairs to find extra blankets and pillows.
"While he's getting the blankets." Kurt turned to Blaine. "Lets go to my room." Blaine smiled and they walked up the stairs together, hands still intertwined. They made it to Kurt's room. Kurt yawned and sat on his bed.
"Kurt, your tired. Lay down." Blaine said softly. Kurt obeyed him and laid down, his eyes closing slowly. Blaine gently covered him with the afghan that was folded on the chair in the corner. "Goodnight." Blaine whispered as he leaned forward to press a small kiss to the sleeping boy's forehead. Kurt's eyes opened slightly.
"Don't leave me." he said, grabbing Blaine's hand as he attempted to walk away. Blaine turned to look at him.
"I have to go, Kurt."
"Please…" Kurt pleaded looking up at Blaine with puppy dog eyes.
"Your dad said that if I stayed here I have to sleep on the couch. I can't stay-"
"No!" Kurt shouted. Blaine shushed him, not wanting to wake the rest of the family, "Just stay here with me." Blaine sighed, but smiled at the sight of Kurt begging to be snuggled by him. He crawled into bed beside him. He wrapped an arm around Kurt's middle and let out a long breath. "Sing me something." Blaine was caught off guard.
"What? There's no music." he whispered.
"Well choose one. I don't care. I just want to hear your voice."
"There is one in my head."
"Oh? What song?"
"Teenage Dream."
"You dork."
"It's our song!"
"It is so not our song."
"It so is." Kurt groans, but of course, Teenage Dream is stuck in his head on repeat, now. Blaine started to hum the first few notes of it before grinning and fitting his head between Kurt's neck and shoulder. Kurt was breathing calmly and slowly.
'He must be asleep,' Blaine thought. "I love you." he whispered, hoping that Kurt didn't hear him. He closed his eyes before hearing the voice of the boy beside him.
"I love you, too."
